On Thursday, December 5th, the RTI Leadership Team met for the second time this year to build on the work of Carol Dweck’s book, Mindset, and to delve deeper into the learning profiles of both students and teachers.
The day began with a review of the All Kinds of Minds Neurodevelopmental Framework, which helps educators leverage student strengths to improve teaching and learning. We looked at numerous case studies and analyzed student work and observable phenomena to develop a plan and conversation road map. Teachers role played having conversations with individual students about their strengths and challenges and working together to help them learn better.
We also focused on teaching students about the learning systems of the brain and how students can benefit from this knowledge.
As a part of looking at different learning styles and doing a self-assessment we read this article and watched this video about learning and the brain. Check it out.
