Earth Kids Club: Week 18, 5/1

There is only one Earth and it is our job to take care of it. All over the world on April 22nd, Earth Day, we remember how important it is to take care of our Earth. We need water and energy from the Earth to live, but those resources could run out. We need to help protect our resources so there will be enough for the future.

Today when people say “Going Green” they mean that they will start doing little things to help the Earth. Friday, April 27, 2018, the Earth Kids had a meeting with the classroom representatives. The represenatives learned about the work we have been doing in the classrooms and cafeteria to help WOS “Go Green!” We made “Recycle Ranger” badges from recycled paper boxes and will wear them during lunch…this way, any student or teacher who has a question about how or what to recycle will be able to quickly identify who can help them!

NOTE: During the month of May, WOS parents are invited to come to lunch to help children sort their lunch trays and determine what is trash and what is recyclable. Maximum of two (2) parents per day. We appreciate any time you can give to help us launch this program effectively! Parents must sign here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1b3eFb4wm9NCOEOah9dtIXppBLGHf3AYskaw2qrk_xLE

This Tuesday, the Earth Kid we will be toting a grocery bag and some rubber gloves when we hit the nature trail for some good ‘ole plogging! What is plogging?
Plogging is Sweden’s latest fitness craze! The term is a mash-up of jogging and the Swedish “plocka upp,” meaning pick up. In this case, litter! Earth Kids Club is making a difference!

If you have any questions about how you can get started plogging…ask an Earth Kid!
