This month our Character Education theme is Communities Persevere. Students learned about Black History Month.
Perseverance means trying to achieve something even when it is difficult or takes a long time. During the assembly, our book of the month, The Magical Yet, was introduced. The story explains how everyone has a magical “YET” inside them helping them persevere and achieve the things that cannot do “YET”. It is important to remember our “YET” during times when we become frustrated or discouraged.
During the assembly, students in Ms. Cassetti’s second grade class reminded their peers to never give up. They further explained that if you do not succeed the first time, you should try again. The presenting students said they can tackle whatever comes their way, they can do anything if they believe in themselves, and they all have the ability and power to improve. At the conclusion of the assembly, each student shared something they cannot do “YET” and students enjoed C.J. Luckey’s, The Power of Yet.
