For March, our theme is Communities Come Together to Make Change. During our Character Education Assembly, students learned about Women’s History Month.
Our book of the month is One Plastic Bag written by Miranda Paul. It is an inspiring true story of how one woman, Isatou Ceesay, began a movement to recycle the plastic bags that were polluting her community. The book demonstrates that one person’s actions can make a difference in their community. Isatou teaches the value of perseverance with an idea despite being scorned by others.
Students then watched a clip about Ryan Hickman. At an early age, Ryan saw a need in his community and created his own recycling company, Ryan’s Recycling. WOS students learned that people of all ages can make a postive change in their community.
