Yes! Sometime we read in short bursts and snippets. That is the way we read when we are surfing the web. Stuides show that reading on the web is a valuable reading experience because readers process information so many different ways. Like “photos, videos, charts and graphs” as said by a University of Michigan professor. The information that readers access is unlimited. Links may lead to related information, which might improve the readign experience. “Giving internet access to low-income students has been shown to improve state test scores.”
Without internet access, these children woudl; most likely have not been reading in their free time. The more people read the more likely they are to develop stronger skills. If surfing the web motivates students to read-“then it is a good thing”. All reading on line or off line is good. It just depends on the type of text and how you use it. Some “off line texts” (books, magazines) are better or worse then others. Soem online texts are better than others.

After reading the editorial answer these questions:
1. What is the thesis statement (trying to prove)?
2. What quotes did the author use to support the thesis staement? List three.
3. Do you believe this writer made a strong argument to support the thesis? Why or why not?
1. that reading is good of and online
2. photo video charts and grafts , then its a good thing and given internet accsess to low income students has been shown to improve statae test scores.
3. yes because , now people can improve state tests scores
1) The thesis statement is saying that it's better to read online.
2) Some quotes are, "Giving internet access to low- income students has been shown to improve state test scores,"Photos, videos, charts, and graphs," and " Then it's a good things."
3) I do think that the writer made a stromg argument to support the thesis because it says people can improve test scores and because, people wouldn't read on their free time without computers.
1. The thesis statement is trying to prove that kids should be open to the web because it gives them information, photo's, video's, charts, graphs, etc.
2. One of the thesis statements were "then it is a good thing", another one is "Giving internet access to low-income students has beeen shown to improve state test scores", and the last one is "photos, videos, charts and graphs.
3. Yes I do think that the writer made a strong argument because she siad alot of true things like some students get better state test grades than they used to when they didnt have the web, listed things that could be very resource-full, and gave lots of reasons why it is a good idea for them to have the web now and my opinion about this is that in just a click of the mouse kids can have so much more information and it will help them get good grades and work better.
1 The thesis statement is "reading on the web"
2 One quote is photos, videos and charts and graphs
