Gabby Douglas was born in Virgina Beach, Virgina. She has one older brother and two older sisters. “Always be courageous and strong, and don’t fear.” that’s one of Gabby’s quote’s. Gabby was born December 31, 1995. She stated gymnastics lessons at age 6. Then she won a state championship at age 8. Then in 2010 she moved away from home to train for the Olympics. Gabby made it into the 2012 London Summer Olympics. She won the gold medal in the Individual and Team Gymnastics events. She became the first African American woman to win gold in the Individual All-Around event. She is currently 18 years old. Gabby Douglas inspired me because I like gymnastics and she won the gold medal in gymnastics. She also inspired me because she became the first African American woman to win gold in the Individual All-Around Gymnastics event and that is cool because she is different and she became the first African American woman to do it.
