SYNC is a free summer audiobook program for teens 13+.  Lucky us!  Week one(1) begins today, April 30 to May 6th! SYNC 2020 will use Sora, the student reading app from OverDrive.

TZHS students already have a SORA account, login using your @stu.socsd.org credentials. However you MUST register for a SYNC account HERE.

Steps to Access the Audiobooks
  • Make sure you REGISTER for SYNC at www.audiobooksync.com.
  • Get the Sora App to access free SYNC audiobooks. The app is available in the Apple App and Google Play stores.
    1. In Sora, open the menu (in the top-right corner).
    2. Select Add a public library.
    3. Search for audiobooksync and select the library from the results (2020 season starts April 30).

@audiobooksSYNC week one 2020 offers two award winning audiobooks. Both these titles have been featured in Project Lit, the student led book initiative with local chapters around the U.S.  The 57 Bus was chosen for the 2018-2019 school year and Monday’s Not Coming is on this year’s list.

The 57 Bus  by Dashka Slater provides an unfailingly nuanced account of how one after school bus ride home became the scene of assault that led to unequal justice and more than just the two lives at the event’s center being forever changed. Both author and narrator succeed in drawing attention to how no event has only one “right” side and how prolonged the aftermath of a moment can endure.

Monday’s Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson  best friends are suddenly torn apart when one disappears and the other tries and fails to get answers about where she’s gone or why, listeners will find themselves right there with Claudia in her search for Monday.
