October is National Bullying Prevention Month.  Every October, individuals from across the nation – and around the world – unite in a campaign to keep all youth safe from bullying. This month we will unite with communities nationwide to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention. National Bullying Prevention Month is a great time for teachers and students to raise awareness in the classroom and community about the need to prevent bullying.  By discussing how to prevent bullying, students will be more involved in determining bully behavior that is hurtful and unacceptable. Students will be engaged in building-wide activities throughout the month to help prevent bullying at South Orangetown Middle School.

The Patriot’s Pen Essay Writing Contest for 2020 is back!  This year’s theme is “What is Patriotism to me?”  Students can ask their Social Studies teacher or navigate our SOMS Homeroom Google Classroom for the participation form.  All submissions are due to their Social Studies teacher no later than October 28.
