South Orangetown Middle School

The South Orangetown Middle School auditorium was vibrating with singing all morning, thanks to the school-wide “Show of Love” assembly sponsored by SOMS PTA. Students and staff competed in a lively “name that tune” contest while covering topics like civility, respect and hope. Students were challenged to step up and provide hope to others and look to role models in their families and communities for inspiration. Rather than justifying hurting others by blaming them, students were encouraged to take advice from Taylor and Elsa: “Shake it Off” and “Let it Go.

“This assembly really brought out the best in everyone today,” reports Interim Assistant Principal Joe Onativia. “The energy in the auditorium was amazing. Our students and staff really walked away inspired to spread a positive message about hope and kindness.”
