South Orangetown Middle School

We proudly announce South Orangetown Middle School’s eight Rockland Community College 2020 Black Achievement Award winners: Caleb A., Ella S., Olivia L., Coryn E., Abiyana M., Ethan C., Zachary T. and Jahna N.!

The RCC Black Achievement Awards seek to recognize the academic and personal accomplishments of Rockland County students from the Black/African Diaspora. “It was my privilege and honor to acknowledge each one of our recipients on this special occasion,” said SOMS Assistant Principal Joseph Onativia, who participated in last week’s ceremony. “These award-winning students work extremely hard to maintain a GPA above 90 percent while going above and beyond outside the classroom. It was so meaningful to see the smiles on their faces as they received their awards in front of their families and friends. We are so proud of them!”

Certificates of Recognition are presented to students in Grades 6, 8, 10 and 12 who have achieved an academic average of 90% or greater, plus outstanding participation and accomplishments in at least two of the following categories: community service, artistic expression, athletics, leadership, and personal triumph and success. Congratulations to all!
