Congratulations to seventh-grader Amelia L., South Orangetown Middle School’s New York Jets Upstander of the Week! Amelia is kind and stands up for others–and teachers say that her peers are receptive to the positive environment she works to create. Amelia makes classmates feel included in the classroom and at lunch by inviting them to sit with her and going out of her way to help them get supplies that they need. Her strategy is to prevent bullying before it happens by looking out for others. Congratulations, Amelia, and keep up the good work!
This is the third school year that South Orangetown Middle School has participated in the New York Jets and Stomp Out Bullying’s Upstander of the Week Program, which aims to reduce and prevent bullying nationwide. Students recognized receive a t-shirt, two tickets to a Jets home game and a parking pass.
