Course Expectations

WELCOME TO SEVENTH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES!

These guidelines will help you to have a successful year!

I. Materials:  Your textbook should be kept at home.  Each day you must bring your assignment book, pen and pencil to class.  A notebook with pocket folder for Social Studies must also be brought to class.

II. Homework:  Written homework assignments must be recorded in the assignment book and are checked the next day. If you do not have your homework, you will receive a grade of zero.  Late homework will be accepted for half credit only if submitted the next day.  In addition, at times, you may be working independently on a long-term project.

III. Tests:  Tests are announced.  Chapter tests are given approximately every third week.  The textbook includes a useful review section at the end of each chapter.  Review sheets are given out before objective tests.

IV. Class Behavior:  Arrive on time.  If you are late, you must have a pass.  Save your socializing for lunchtime.  Be respectful of all other students in your class.

V.  Absences:  It is your responsibility to find out what work you have missed.  You must make up this work within a reasonable period of time.  If you are in school but absent from class, you are responsible for finding out what was missed on that same day.

VI. Course Grading Policy:  Each of the following is used in determining a student’s quarterly grade for Social Studies 7:

  1. Tests/quizzes               (50%)
  2. Essays / Projects          (35%)
  3. Class Activities/Homework    (15%)

VII. Parent Portal/Website

I encourage parents to check the parent portal often for test, essay, project and homework grades.  Assignments and project sheets are posted on my website.
