ELA: Deep Study of Character:  Essential Questions

1. How does the setting (both physical and mood/atmosphere) play a role in character development and character change?

2. Why must we study characters deeply in order to truly understand how and why they are complicated?

3. How can readers develop lines of thinking to discuss and analyze all genres of text?

4. How can we use mindfulness to understand ourselves as complicated characters?

5. How do other literary elements (setting, conflict, plot) play a role in understanding both character and theme? 

6. Why is important to study novels and short stories from a writers view and use their craft moves in our own writing?
