Courage

go-away-green-monsterCourage is the word of the month at William O. Schaefer. In October, Halloween is celebrated.  We can read books about monsters to help us conquer our fears.   Most of these monsters aren’t scary but even the cute ones can help us to feel bigger and braver. Read and listen to to Ed Emberley's book, Go Away, Big Green Monster!

Writer’s Workshop

Writing-WorkshopThis week the students are writing stories about their lives. We have shared how even the smallest moment can me a great story.  We are encouraging them to first plan out the story by touching the the pages and telling the story as they go.  Then make a quick sketch to remind them before they turn the page.  This will help them work toward our goal of writing a story with a beginning, middle and end.  Thank you for sending in the photographs.  They will certainly help when your child is not sure what to write about!

“How Full Is Your Bucket”

Has your child asked you, "How Full Is Your Bucket?" They would be introducing you to our school social skills program which has replaced Mrs. O'Donnell's Charlie Caps theme.  We read Tom Rath's, "How Full Is Your Bucket" and discussed how kind acts, words, and positive thinking help us feel.

Please enjoy reading this story with your child at home!!
