We hope everyone enjoyed the snow day!! We didn’t get a chance to make our predictions for the big game on Sunday, so we thought you could leave a comment letting us know what you think. Do you think the Denver Broncos or the Carolina Panthers will win? Also, tell us know why you think they will win. PROVE your prediction. Then … what do you think the score might be? How many points do you think the winning team will win by? We will let you know who we are rooting for on Monday!
We just finished reading Judy Moody was in a Mood by Megan McDonald. We have been learning that after we read a book we must continue our thinking. So today we had a conversation about how Judy acts and feels, the problems she faced, how she changed, the lessons Judy learned and the lessons we learned. We thought it might be fun to learn more about Judy Moody so… here is her website. http://www.judymoody.com/
You should be very proud of yourselves!! There is so much to learn from our Nonfiction slideshow that is on our Nonfiction Reading Project page! Please share it with your family and then leave a comment. Share with us what you and your family have learned. Enjoy!

Did you know that Johannes Gutenberg gave you one of the greatest gifts of all time.
December is the perfect month for families to consider helping others in need. For the fourteenth year, William O. Schaefer family’s are given the opportunity to share food with the home bound and elderly residents of South Orangetown by making Covered Cupboards for the Meals on Wheels Program.
Covered Cupboards are simply made by filling shoe boxes with nutritious foods. Do not wrap paper around the lid and box or glue 3-D decorations to lids. Please just loosely tape the lid to the box. Drawings on the lids or covers is welcomed! These Covered Cupboards are delivered to seniors for use when inclement weather prohibits delivery of a hot meal.
Please drop off your Covered Cupboards at William O. Schaefer (WOS), 140 Lester Drive, Tappan, New York. The Executive Director of Meals on Wheels, Jim Burton, will pick up the Covered Cupboards at WOS on Wednesday, December 23rd.
Thank you in advance for giving so generously to the seniors in our community during this winter season.
Please refer to Covered Cupboard Food List to find out all the details, including the suggested food list. Questions can be forwarded to mchaudoir@socsd.org.
WOW! How are pumpkin has changed! Please leave a comment comparing these photographs to the photographs from three weeks ago. How has the pumpkin changed? Use the key words we have been using to make your explanation very clear to the reader.
Are you up for the challenge?? Show this to your family and have fun figuring it out together. You can write as many ideas as you would like. We will share everyone’s ideas and then solve the riddle. HAVE FUN!!!
We carved our pumpkin and saved all of the pumpkin seeds. Each one of us observed the bowl of seeds and estimated how many seeds came out of the pumpkin. We couldn’t believe that there were 433 seeds. Mr. Bartell roasted them with canola oil and salt. They tasted great!!
When we returned to school on Monday, the carved pumpkin was getting mushy and mold was growing. We learned a new word…decay. We placed the pumpkin outside our classroom window. Now we can watch how it changes and decays. Please leave a post explaining what you predict will happen to the pumpkin. What will it look like in a week? Will any wild creatures eat the pumpkin? Will it change color? We can’t wait to read everyone’s rotten predictions!!
