Class Expectations
- BE RESPECTFUL of your classmates’ and your teacher’s belongings, ideas, and values. I ask that listen to your classmates and teacher and wait patiently for your turn to be called upon to share your thoughts and ideas.
- BE PREPARED for class. YOU MUST BRING THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WITH YOU EACH CLASS PERIOD:
- Three-ring binder with plenty of paper OR a spiral notebook
- Folder for graded papers
- Pen or pencil
- BE RESPONSIBLE. THIS MEANS:
- Be on time to class. You are late if you are not in your seat when the bell rings. Each unexcused late will be documented.
- Complete ALL work that has been assigned to you.
- Make up all missed work in accordance with the student handbook.
- Record all assignments in your student planner every day. After being handed back a quiz/Test, record these grades in the Grade Record Chart in your Student Agenda.
- Make an appointment with me for office hours IF YOU NEED EXTRA HELP.
******IMPORTANT: The use of on-line dictionaries are encouraged; however, the use of translators to convert several sentences from English to Spanish is unacceptable and will be considered as cheating.
Grading Policy
85% – for quizzes, tests, projects, compositions, etc.- All quizzes and tests will be assigned with at least one day notice. All quizzes and tests must be signed by your parents. All quizzes with a failing grade MUST be signed by a parent and returned to me. You have one week to make up any quiz/test missed due to absence. You can re-take one quiz per quarter; the higher grade will be recorded. Ten points will be deducted for each day that a project or composition is late.
15% – for homework and class work completion-
Homework that isn’t presentable and complete at the beginning of the period will not be given any credit. If the homework is submitted the following day, partial credit of 70 will be given to the student. No homework will be assigned during holidays in order to be sensitive to cultural traditions. Please make certain to contribute any vital information pertaining to cultural traditions that I might not be aware of so that I may be sensitive to them.
All class work can be re-submitted for a higher grade as long as it is handed in the following class period. The student must make corrections on a separate sheet of paper then staple both together and submit for grading.
Attendance Policy
Each student is responsible for finding out and making up all class work and homework assigned during their absence.
