Book of the Month
Acceptance is when a person agrees to the reality of a situation, (often a negative or uncomfortable situation) without attempting to change it, protest it, or leave.
In Jin Woo, Eve Bunting, depicts a deep emotional understanding of acceptance, The reassurance and gentle leadership of David's parents help him to accept his new baby brother without losing his parents' love. Jin Woo is a moving story about an adoptive family and the love they all have to spare.
Please complete three (3) separate comments about our book of the month, Jin Woo. You are also encouraged to respond to classmates' posts.
- There are events within a story that can change how a character feels. Describe how David's feelings changed from the beginning of the story to the end of the story. Identify events that caused him to have certain feelings. Use this graphic organizer to help you frame your response.
- Use your independent reading book (present or past) to describe how a character's feelings changed from the beginning to the end of the story. Include title, author, and evidence from the text. OR Describe a time in your life when you changed your feelings. Explain how and why you changed in certain circumstances.
- David generously gave away his precious ducks which he loved so much to Jin Woo. What personal item would you give away if you were expecting a little baby into their family? Why is that item so special to you?
