  1. Read the Introduction – Advanced civilizations existed in America before the arrival of Europeans.  The oldest civilization in Central America were the Olmec which flourished between 1500 B.C. and 300 B.C.  They farmed and built stone houses, monuments and drainage systems in Southern Mexico , Honduras and Guatemala.  The Olmec had a strong influence on the the cultures that followed them.
  2. Complete the graphic organizer using your Native American Packet Guided Reading Chapter 1 Lesson 2, the text, powerpoint and other resources provided in the room.
