Mrs. Piteo’s Virtual Art Room for W.O.S.

Hello Everyone, Happy 2021!

I apologize for neglecting this blog…. it has been quite an interesting and challenging school year for us all.  As I am not an expert with technology, I have been doing my best to adapt to this new “hybrid-style” of teaching through our district’s remote synchronous approach.  I have created a Virtual Art Room which is currently posted in every teachers Google Classroom for all students to have access to while learning remotely.  You may also find the link here as well for additional access if needed.

The W.O.S. Virtual Art Room

I encourage my students to explore my Virtual Art Room to refer back to my live lessons, my special selection of stories in the Art Library page, and my “Creativity Zone” for additional fun art activities to work on independently.  The Virtual Art Room is continuously being updated with new activities and alternating lessons. Please feel free to contact me via email at EPITEO@SOCSD.ORG should you have any issues with the link 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wish you all a very

HAPPY & HEALTHY THANKSGIVING!

Here are some fun turkey activities for those of you who do not have art with me this week and you are looking to do something creative and cool! The first link is inspired by one of my favorite resources for elementary art, deepspacesparkle.com.  The second link is inspired by the South Asian cultural tradition of Mehndi Henna Art.

You can always explore my Virtual Art Room (or click here) anytime for more art activities you can do at home! I recommend  checking out the Creativity Zone. Don’t forget to email me pictures of your complete masterpieces so I can add them into the Virtual Gallery.

W.O.S. Virtual Student Art Gallery – Fall 2020

Hello My friends!

As we approach the end of the first quarter, I wanted to say THANK YOU to all my students and their families who have helped them at home!!!! THANK YOU for your participation, hard work, and most of all, YOUR PATIENCE with all of our tech issues (you’d think by now everything would run smoothly??? HA!).

Anyway, enjoy viewing this virtual art gallery of the work that was submitted to me via email.  THANK YOU for sharing your masterpieces! A lot of artwork was displayed around our building. This was an optional way to share our work especially for our fully-remote students. It’s not too late to add more work to the virtual gallery, just email me a picture of your work with your name and class code in the subject line 🙂

I would like to leave you with this great quote by artist, Bob Ross (the original art-tutorial guru) as today is his birthday!

“WE ARTISTS ARE A DIFFERENT BREED OF PEOPLE, WE’RE A HAPPY BUNCH!”

International Peace Day!

Today is INTERNATINAL PEACE DAY!

According to the UN.org, “Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace…The 2020 theme for the International Day of Peace is “Shaping Peace Together. Celebrate the day by spreading compassion, kindness and hope in the face of the pandemic. Stand together with the UN against attempts to use the virus to promote discrimination or hatred. Join us so that we can shape peace together.”

This year is the 5th Year our school will be participating in PINWHEELS FOR PEACE, an art project that began in Florida many years ago.  The idea of using pinwheel art to spread the message of peace has spread across the country and the world.  I am proud to have my students participate in this project each year. Our WOS community will be displaying our pinwheels this FRIDAY, September 25th! Let us use our “art powers” to help spread the message of Worldwide PEACE, LOVE, & KINDNESS! You may plant-your-own pinwheel at home or plant it in front of our school!

If you do not have art class with me this week, you may check out my Pinwheel Lesson posted in your google classrooms!

Stay CREATIVE, PEACEFUL, and COOL!
