This week we started our fraction unit. We have been working hard exploring halves, fourths and eighths so far. After we explore halves, fourths and eighths a little more, we will then learn about thirds and sixths.
Please answer one or both questions. Remember to answer using complete sentences, re read your writing to check for spelling, capitalization and grammar, and please read what your peers are saying and comment to them as well.
- What is one or two things you learned so far about fractions?
- What is something you like about the fraction unit?
Keep working hard!
One thing I learned about fractions is that when you have the fraction like 1224 you can write it like 12 which is an equivalent fraction. One thing I like about the fraction unit is I learn different ways to divided it.
I like that to, but it isn’t my favorite.
I love fractions!!! One thing I learned about fractions is that when the fraction is 6/3 you can also call it 1/2. One thing I like about fractions is we do a lot of coloring and I love coloring!!!
I mean 3/6.
Those are really cool things you have learned Sorcha and Jordan! One thing I learned about fractions is how to do equivelant fractions. For example, 18/24 is equivelent to 3/4. One thing I like about fractions is experimenting the different ways you can make them using the 4 by 6 rectangles.
Experimenting different ways is really fun Julia. One thing I have learned is that the fractions don’t have to be exactly the same to be equivelent. For example 2/8 is equal to 1/4 because you would get the same amount of whatever you are talking about. I really like to make all different shapes on the 4 by 6 rectangles and find different ways to make halves, thirds, fourths, sixths and eighths
That is so cool Joey!!!
I also love finding different fractions that are equivelent.
That’s cool Joey! One thing I learned about fractions are equevelent fractions, for example 12/24’s is equal to 1/2. Another thing I learned is fractions can be different shapes. And, one thing I like is getting creative with making different shaped fractions. I also realized that fractions can be used in every day life for instance a pizza pie is cut in to eighths. Thank you Mrs. Caunitz for teaching me fractions.
Wow Sam, it’s cool how you found a way to use fractions in every day life!!!!!
That’s cool Sam. One thing I learned about fractions is that 1/6=4 square units. I also learned that 2/6-=8 square units 3/6=12 4/6=16 5/6=20 and 6/6=24 square units. I think fractions are cool!!!!!!!!
I like to eat pizza. I am allowed to eat 1/8 of a pie for dinner. Love Kevin and Schmoo
I like to eat pizza to!!!
I also think that is cool Kevin. One thing I learned about fractions is in the 4 by 6 rectangles in 1/4 there are 6 square units, there are 12 square units in 1/2, in 1/1 there 24 square units, in 1/3 there are 8 square units, in 1/6 there are 4 square units and in 1/8 there are 3 square units. One thing I like about the fraction unit is how we learned about fourths and halves.
I like to eat 7/8 of a pie for dinner.
That is a lot of pie!!! Are you sure you can eat all that!?
That is a lot of pie!!! Are you sure you can eat all that? lol
That’s awesome kevin
I learned that fractions are split into equal groups. One thing I like about fractions is if you can split one whole into into halves. For example 1/2 of 50 square units equals 25.
I love fractions i learned thay 12/12 equals 1 whole.
You mean I and that.
One thing I’ve learned from fractions is that when a rectangle is cut in to forths it is less than a half. I thing i love about fractions was learning about thirds.
I think the fact that now we use a 5 by 12 graph and a 4 by 6 graph. My favorite thing in fractions is finding equevelent fractions
EXAMPLE:
30/60S =1/2
One thing I learned from fractions is 1 half of 24 is 12.My favorite thing about fractions is learning about fourths.
That is so cool Olivia!!!
