You are going to write a Shakespearean sonnet from the point of view of a “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” character! Remember to focus on the elements of a sonnet and use the rubric to guide your writing. It should convey a specific emotion and/or address a universal topic or theme, contain 3 quatrains and one rhymed couplet, follow the correct rhyme scheme (abab, cdcd, efef, gg), and have 14 lines that each contain 10 syllables.
Background on Iambic Pentameter:
Iambic Pentameter = one short syllable followed by one longer syllable. This equals one “foot” and there are five “feet.” It flows like this:
- baBOOM / baBOOM / baBOOM / baBOOM / baBOOM.
