Song Dissection

Songs can be broken into parts. The general parts of all songs are verses, chorus, and bridge.

Verse: writing arranged with a metrical rhythm, typically having a rhyme.

Chorus: a part of a song that recurs at intervals, usually following each verse.

Bridge: A unique passage that comes between and connects two distinct sections of a song; a musical “segue.” A bridge will often build anticipation for an upcoming chorus.

Task: Part I – Listen to the select songs and identify the verse, chorus, and bridge in the activity sheet.  Part II-  you will pick two of your own appropriate songs to time and complete on the above worksheet. Be sure to share this sheet with dcastellano@socsd.org for credit.
