I just learned something new from Ms. Eyer and other teachers! So there is a way for us to share different things, like videos and articles, and lots of other things! It is similar to our blog, but it is nice for our class to be able to respond to things and have different assignments. It is called Google Classroom!!
Today is Scrabble Day! Scrabble is one of my favorite board games to play at Family Game Night!
It celebrates the popular board game on the birthday of it’s inventor, Alfred Mosher Butts. Scrabble is a word game in which two to four players score points by forming words from individual lettered tiles on a gameboard marked with a 15×15 grid. The words are formed across and down in crossword fashion and must appear in a standard dictionary.
This Scrabble online free game is great practice for the real thing. Combine the letters into high-value words on a timer for the most points. Sharpen your vocabulary and memory skills with this fun, fast-paced word game!
To begin, go here and click the Small | Medium | Large under the picture. This opens the game in a pop-up window.
Add up the points to find out how much the word is worth. Try to create a “Scrabble” sheet of your own! Compose words and add up their worth. What is the total of all the words on our classroom “Word Wall”?
Challenge: Create a 30 second public service announcement about the benefits of playing Scrabble.
