Communities Show Empathy

This year our Character Education Program is about building relationships, Communities Form Connections.

Songs of the month:

Each month we will focus on character education traits through the lens of communities working together. We will celebrate with a word of the month, a book of the month, a song and group awards.   From bird houses to recycle initiatives, students work together and accomplish great things.  We will recognize these efforts each month.  The Buddy Bench is a great way to show empathy and make new friends.  Here is a reminder.

September is Communities Show Empathy.  It is the 18th Anniversary of September 11th. There were many courageous people who died that day.  This left others wanting to help and show empathy in some way. We as a community want to create the same atmosphere at Cottage Lane.  “Because there is no nation so powerful it cannot be wounded, nor a people so small they cannot offer mighty comfort.”  As a school community we want to show empathy to others just like the small village in 14 Cows for America.

“To heal a sorrowing heart, give something that is dear to your own.”

To all the little children who read this book. You are the peace the world has been waiting for. May you grow to be compassionate diplomats. -W.K.N.
