Last year, Cottage Lane celebrated its 60th Birthday!
Sixty years ago, Cottage Lane was opened and dedicated by the Board of Education. The plaque outside the music room commemorates this day. It reads: This school is dedicated to the education of our children upon whom the security of our nation rests. The Board of Education August 1953
With the help of Mr. Yassky and Nolan Monuments, we restored the plaque and gathered everyone to rededicate the school. This included an interview by Maya, a gift from the current student body, a documentary by Emilia, classroom lessons by alumni, and of course Happy Birthday song and cupcakes. Go to this blog post to watch a video and powerpoint about this special event – 1953-1013.
What was even more exciting is that we received an 18″ reel from Mrs. Paulous. Her dad was the first principal of CLE. When he passed away last year, the family came across old movie reels. Here is a link to the moving video movie that was set to music when we had the reel converted. – Cottage Lane School 1953.
