Congratulations to fifth-grader Payton O., Cottage Lane Elementary School’s New York Jets Upstander of the Week! Her teachers say that Payton recently stood up for a younger student on the bus who was being treated unfairly. When this student was told he could not sit at the back of the bus with the older kids, Payton spoke up and said, “He can sit anywhere. It is not okay to be mean to him.” Thanks for being a good role model for your fellow classmates, Payton!
This is the first year that Cottage Lane Elementary School has participated in the New York Jets and Stomp Out Bullying’s Upstander of the Week program, which aims to reduce and prevent bullying nationwide. Those recognized receive a t-shirt, two tickets to a Jets home game and a parking pass.
