Cottage Lane Elementary School

Cottage Lane Elementary School strives to optimize student learning and understanding of ourselves and the world around us.  When we talk about success in school not only do we focus on academics but also character development. You will often hear us discuss and refer to Carol Dweck’s book, Mindset,  in order to cultivate growth mindsets.  Our goal is to foster a positive school climate and develop students of strong character who are inspired to do well and do good.   Please visit our Character Education page for additional information.

Through our Character Education Program,we encourage students and staff to maximize their full potential. By identifying, focusing, understanding and developing our character strengths, we are more engaged, productive and happy. As a result, we all have the capability of impacting others and building a better world.  As kid president says “If you want to be more awesome, treat others more awesome”.  The Science of Character describes character strengths as being like superpowers. We will use this theme to “unleash” the superpowers in us all this year.

“KNOW YOUR STRENGTHS. LIVE IN CHARACTER. SAVOR YOUR SUCCESS.”

At our assembly, students watched Kid President’s Pep Talk to remind them unleash their superpowers.  Mrs. King walked the students through exercises to practice and remind our students that they have the power and the courage to be a positive, proactive bystander.
