Summer STEAM Camp

Summer STEAM Camp

SOCSD launched its Summer STEAM Camp in July 2016 to provide enrichment programming for South Orangetown students in grades K-8. The annual, two-week, half-day summer program is led by school district faculty who develop exciting, hands-on projects in a variety of subject areas to engage campers in a fun, exploration-oriented environment.

2024 SUMMER STEAM CAMP

  • Programs are led by SOCSD teachers
  • No cost for families to participate

We are very excited to continue to offer STEAM camp this summer to our students currently in grades K-8. The camp will run two weeks and will take place Monday, July 1- July 12 2024 (no camp on July 4). Camp will run from 8:50AM-12:15PM.

The core values of STEAM camp are to give students opportunities to dive deeper into STEAM topics that they would normally not get to during the school year. The topics extend from the school curriculum and reach beyond those projects we are capable of doing in larger groups. Therefore we will continue to maintain small class sizes.

Students currently in grades K-5 will have three one-hour classes on three different topics each day. They will take the same topics for the first week.  In week two, they will switch classes and have 3 new classes each day. Students currently in grades 6-8 will have two 1.5 hour classes each day for the first week, then take two different classes the following week.  All of these classes will range from art, to physics, to engineering, to robotics

Camper Registration & Selection
As in the past, we will be filling spots through a lottery system should we get more applicants than spaces we can fill. Therefore, before you apply, PLEASE make sure that your child(ren) can commit to ALL nine (9) days of camp.

The application will be posted in your Powerschool account under “Forms” (see below) for each eligible student on February 1st. You have until Feb 16th to apply.  You will be notified about application status by Friday, March 15th, 2024.  Please feel free to email Samantha Levine at slevine@socsd.org  or Jessenia Cursio at jcursio@socsd.org with any questions.
