  1. Students can help each other when one person is having difficulties. Last year, someone in my class helped me understand how to solve math problems.

      • I was able to help 3rd graders with Math last year. I can help in our classroom also. I like knowing I can get help also if I am struggling.

        • I like knowing that someone could possibly help me, too, Ben. Too often I call to my husband in the next room to help me with a computer problem. This year, however, I am determined to try to solve more computer problems on my own by struggling and trying new tactics. That being said, I am glad that he is in the next room to bail me out if I have been working on a problem for hours that I know he knows how to solve.

  2. The students can help each other by helping them with there work. They can remind each other how to do things. This happened to me last year and it really helped me! 🙂

    • I hope that this year some people can help me do things not only in the classroom but at lunch or gym and art also music. I think that one way we can help each other this year is by cleaning after yourself . And we will not have to be worried about being responsible for other people.

        I LOVE that idea – cleaning up after yourself. You’re right no one likes being held responsible for someone else’s mistakes or laziness or mess.

  3. One way we can do it is bye showing empathy. What empathy is to put your self in another persons shoes, or imagine that you are someone els and try to feel how they feel. For example, If you were in a situation that you got 100 on a test, and your friend got a 36. Never say stuff like oh that was so easy, how do you just not get it, I got 100 an you didn’t. Instead of doing that empathize, show empathy. A way you can do that is by saying things like after school do you want to come over I will explain every thing to you, or your really smart maybe we can study together and our teacher will let you retake this test. Empathy is just one out of the many reasons how we can do this.

      • Students should listen and pay attention when the teacher is talking to the class. I agree with Molly that you should help others when they are struggling and don’t make fun of people.

    • A second way we can all do this is by keeping a very neat class room. If our class room is neat we will never have anyone lose anything. last year were we put our lunches, coats, and book bags. We would always loose our coats and lunches in the mess. We had hangers to put our coats and bags and boxes to put our lunches in. Every one would just throw it on the floor. With the notebooks nobody would put them away when they were done with them. Everyone would look all over the class and find them in tot bags, book bins, and even at home. We should all work together to keep things organized.

      • A 3rd way is by treating others how you would like to be treated. Like if you were planning to hide some one else’s journal so that they could not find it. They would have to buy a new one and restart all there stories. It would be a lot of work to start a second journal. Before you do it ask your self, would you like that to be you? No to do all that work again no you would not. That is another way out of the many.

        • A 4th way is think before you act/ If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say it. For example think what to say before you speak. If you see some one that is drawing a picture that dose not look good to you and your about to say “that is the worst picture I have ever seen”. Instead don’t say anything. that is my last way we can all work together and do this.

    • I agree. One of the best ways to help create an effective classroom is empathy. Empathy makes someone feel understood. Standing in someone else’s shoes makes you realize how hard someone else’s life can be compared to yours. It makes it easier to help someone who needs help. It also makes a little less weight on someone’s shoulders because you helped them. Thats why I agree with Molly about empathy.

      This is a very thoughtful response. When we have empathy for each other, the atmosphere is more conducive to growing and learning, and individuals may not feel ashamed or angry.

  4. One way students can create an effective classroom is being respectful, listening when the teacher is speaking and helping out your classmates when in need.

  5. I think when the teacher is speaking you should listen and if you don’t understand what the teacher is teaching you should ask them about it and don’t keep quiet.

          I couldn’t agree with you more. I think it is helpful to have students who are motivated and willing to listen and do what needs to be done to grow and learn. I would suggest that students also need to listen to other students who offer thoughts to whole class conversations, small group discussions or partner shares. When individuals talk while someone else is sharing aloud, the individual who is sharing may feel less valued. Curbing side discussions during class discussions could help create an effective classroom – one where individuals feel valued.

  6. One way we can create an effective classroom is by, showing enthusiasm in your work and also helping people with their work as well.

  7. I think if everyone follows the rules of the classroom, for example, like raising your hand, listening to each other, and keeping their hands to your selves, this will create an atmosphere where we can learn more faster.

  8. If everyone follows the rules and helps people who are struggling, by helping them on tough problems or even asking if someone needs help would help make a more effective classroom.

  9. Students can be respectful to each other and the teacher. Students should listen,and do what their told to do without being told twice. Students should also help the teacher and classmates whenever they need help.Student also shouldent try to distract others.

  10. One way we can create an effective classroom is by helping people when they are having trouble figuring something out, you can ask them if they need help. Also if someone is sad then you can ask if they are OK and if they say no then you can try to make them feel better. You can also listen when the teacher is talking you can also respect the materials around the classroom and to other classmates. 🙂 🙂

  11. I think students can make a effective classroom with a focus on learning by helping each other out in many different ways. For example if someone forgets a school supply and you have an extra you should lend them one. Another example is helping someone with a topic when they get stuck.

    Another way students can make an effective classroom with focus on learning is if your friend is messing around in class don’t follow them and try to get them to pay attention to the teacher just because your friend might get in trouble doesn’t mean you have to too.-Cassie Waitkus

  13. One way to create an effective classroom is by listening to each other. If you listen to each other you get ideas to do many things. You can hear directions and know what to do, so you can get to another activity. Another way to create an effective classroom is by sharing supplies. For example, if someone needed to borrow scissors you can say yes. Sharing with someone can start a domino affect and everyone would share. Those are just a few ways to create a effective classroom.

    • I also think that listening is a great way to create an effective classroom because listening to others and using there idea would probably make them feel good that someone liked there idea. 🙂 🙂 also sharing.
