Congratulations to eighth grader Anna M., South Orangetown Middle School’s 2022-2023 Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest winner!
This year’s theme, “Lead with Compassion,” inspired Anna’s design, which she describes as “a group of people climbing a mountain, with one figure helping another.”
The Blauvelt Lions Club, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary, has been a local sponsor of the Peace Poster Contest for many years, working with South Orangetown Central School District art teachers and students at all grade levels. For the past six years, SOMS teacher and current Blauvelt Lions Club President Kerry Beckmann has served as the contest liaison.
“I’d like to congratulate Anna on her outstanding entry and thank SOMS art teachers Tatiana DiPierno and Allison Meyers for their continued support. Our art teachers and students have always been very active and enthusiastic participants in the contest,” she said. “It’s always exciting to see what wonderful and creative submissions they will come up with.”
