Families gathered for a night of mindfulness last night at the annual K-5 Family Wellness Night at William O. Schaefer Elementary School!

Faculty members from WOS and Cottage Lane Elementary School hosted a variety of tables aimed to give students and families ways to help reduce stress both inside and outside of the classroom. “It’s so great when we have the opportunity to bring families into our schools for events like this. Family Wellness Night is all about highlighting the importance of practicing mindfulness every day, stress reduction habits to try and to help students learn how to listen to their bodies,” said WOS Assistant Principal Brian Galvin.

Throughout the gym, students and their families rotated through a variety of hands-on stations which featured tools and techniques to promote mindfulness throughout the day including sensory tools, breathing exercises, books and relaxing activities to try such as coloring. The evening ended with a winter-inspired yoga routine led by WOS teacher Liane Kolesar!
