The Tappan Zee High School Leo Club President Cole M. presented at the Lions Clubs International District 20-R1 Convention in Sleepy Hollow on November 13. Lions, as well as students, from Putnam, Rockland and Northern Westchester counties were brought together to share ideas and stories about various projects, initiatives and events they have worked on recently.

Joined by Leo Club Vice President Jonathan S. via a pre-recorded video, Cole discussed what the TZHS Leo Club has accomplished this year. They spoke about various events members have participated in this year including helping the Soup Angels, a local soup kitchen, and volunteering at the 2022 Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Boulders Stadium. “I was also able to tell the convention about all the success our club has had in fundraising through efforts like Got Sneakers,” said Cole.

Cole had the opportunity to discuss how the club has evolved over the years. “I informed the assembly how membership has grown exponentially (from 25 members to over 150) and that our organization has completed over 500 hours of service this year! This club has meant so much to me during my time at Tappan Zee High School. I was just grateful to have the opportunity to talk about our achievements. None of this would be possible without the tireless work of Ms. Eyer, Ms. Bradbury and Ms. Mart,” explained Cole.

Library Media Specialist and Leo Club Advisor Patty Eyer added, “This was a fabulous opportunity for the Leo Club Officers to collaborate and see what other clubs are doing! Both Cole and Jonathan have been instrumental in getting our current membership to 150 members. Together, they lead with intrinsic qualities of leadership and bring experience and opportunity to the TZHS Leo Club and its members.”
