This week in library, kindergarten students will read the second title, Pizza!: An Interactive Recipe Book by Lotta Nieminen, so far there are three books in the series of interactive recipe books!
Students will cook pizza from scratch in this fully interactive recipe book that allows readers to mix the ingredients, knead the dough, spread the sauce, and more!
Students will warm up for thier classroom “How to..” work by retelling the pizza making process mess free! Now, what are those steps? How do you make a pizza?
STEP ONE: Stir the yeast and sugar into the warm water, and set aside until bubbly.
STEP TWO: Combine the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl.
STEP THREE: Add the oil and yeast mixture into the large bowl and mix until the ingredients turn into a large clump of dough!
STEP FOUR: ….. Will you add toppings? Bake in the oven?
Kindergatrden students are writing straightforward how to text in order to bring readers through each step of their self selected topic. Once they learn how to organize lists and thoughts into a piece of writing, students will be amazed at how much they’re able to teach other!
