The William O. Schaefer Elementary School Earth Kids spoke with SOCSD administrators and our Board of Education tonight about the innovative cafeteria recycling program they’ve implemented, with the help of advisors Patty Eyer, Michelle Rossi and Heidi Hill and custodians Justin Duffy and Phil Sanger.
The first- and second-graders were inspired to take action to reduce trash and pollution as a way to protect wildlife and the Earth. “We found 15 pounds of litter on the WOS nature trail and we really want to stop that,” explained Zoe P.
“You are important,” Dr. Robert Pritchard told the Earth Kids. “Your choices and actions make the world a different place. We can’t thank you enough for what you’re doing at William O. Schaefer…You are leaders.”
