A memoir is a book of memories that is a work of literary non-fiction. It differs from a diary because in a memoir the writer is the main character, and it is a reflection over the years with the collective experiences having a general theme. In a diary, it goes day by day and only reflects that day’s themes. Thank you @schmoop

A memoir can be a mirror, a window or doorway that invites students to reflect and think deeply about the world around them. This memoir unit will launch with a “Book Tasting”, inviting students to glimpse the diverse world in which we live, including diversity in race, class, disability, and religion with a cultural dining experience. Take a look at the menus below….

What if I can’t find a memoir at the TZHS Library that interests me? Blauvelt, Orangeburg, Piermont, Palisades and Tappan, aka The Mighty 5 Libraries of South Orangetown are available to you outside of the the TZHS Library… these public libraries can help you locate and request a book from another Ramapo Catskill Library System if they do not have a copy of the book.

If you do not have a public library card, I urge you to go to the Mighty Five Library closest to your home or take a library card application from the TZHS Library circulation desk.
