REMINDER – Friday, May 26 – Half day for Students – Periods 5 – 9 on Day 6 of the cycle.

Monday, May 29 – No School in Observance of Memorial Day – Return Tuesday, May 30

 

  • Friday, May 26 during periods 5 to 7 TZ Palooza and Wellness Fair are being held on the Athletic Field. It is rumored to be an awesome lineup. Please feel free to participate during your free or “lunch” periods.
  • National Art Honor Society will be holding a fundraiser Friday, May 26.  We will have caricature artists selling personalized drawings, $3 for a black and white drawing and $5 for one in color, and Henna Tattoo artists creating designs for $5. Find us on the field during your lunch period while you enjoy TZ Palooza!
  • TZ Palooza – All those participating in TZ Palooza, please join us for one final rehearsal after school on Thursday, May 25 in the band room from 3:15-5. See Ms. Quinn if you have questions.
  • Spanish Club Officers – there will be a meeting, Thursday, May 25 in room C7 after school.
  • Chess Club – The next meeting of the CHESS CLUB for the year will be held on Thursday, May 25  after school in the library.  All students are invited, from ROOKies to Grand Masters.  Never played?  We will teach you!  “CHECK” us out and become a PAWN star! 
  • Tri-M Music Honor Society  – Nominations for next year’s officers are due by this Friday, May 26 to Dr. Wagoner.  Elections will take place on Tuesday, June 6
  • Peer Leadership – Rising seniors if you are interested in being a Peer Leader for next year, please complete the Google form on the TZHS Google Classroom by Friday, May 26.  If you have any questions please see Mrs. Moore in room 307.
  • TZHS Library:  All books are due June 1, 2023. If you are a senior, you MUST return all borrowed devices and books prior to receiving your cap and gown.  TZHS Sustainable Closet is Open every day! We are always looking for new items…Bring items you no longer need or wear. We will be at the Wellness Fair on Friday, May 26. 
  • French Club  we will meet Wednesday, May 31 at 3:05 in room C3.  New Officer elections for the 2023-2024 school year will take place.
  • Spanish Club  – meeting Thursday, June 1 at 3:05 pm in room C-7
  • LEO Club: The LEO Club is partnering with the Blauvelt Lions in the first Annual “Journey for Sight 5K Run and Walk”. This race is in support of the following charities: Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Visions Center on Blindness (VCB) and Alliance Vision Institute (AVI).  Please sign up and support this fabulous cause!

  • SHS Officers  – meeting Tuesday, June 6 at 3:05 pm in room C-6
  • French Honor Society –  there will be a meeting Wednesday, June 7 at 3:05.  All members and officers must attend to conduct new officer elections for the 2023-2024 school year.If you are interested in running and currently take French, please make sure to attend this meeting.  You must be taking French for the 2023-2024 school year in order to run.
  • SHS  – meeting, Wednesday, June 7 at 3:05 pm in room C-6. FINAL DAY TO TURN IN SERVICE HOURS
  • Ping Pong Club  – will have its year end meeting on Wednesday, June 7. All members should attend. Elections for next years officers will take place
  • Spanish Club Meeting– meeting Thursday, June 8 at 3:05 pm in room C-7.
  • Spamalot T-shirts  – tshirts are here!!! Please bring your $20 payment in cash or check (payable to Tappan Zee High School). If you picked up your t-shirt but still owe payment, please drop off $20 to main office in Ms. Herskowitz’s mailbox with your name on the envelope. T-shirts will be available for pick up in Ms. Herskowitz’s office room 404. 
  • Yearbook Ordering: Yearbooks can now only be purchased cash or check made payable to Tappan Zee High School for $120 and brought to Ms. LaBrake in room 118. We only have 100 books left, so if you would like one, pre-order now before we sell out. Books should be delivered and handed out the beginning of June. 
  • VHS – Interested in Screenwriting? Biotechnology? Pre-veterinary Medicine? Perhaps Mythology or Number Theory?  Well then Virtual High School is for you! There are many exciting courses being offered on-line for the upcoming Fall Semester.  If you’re interested in taking Virtual High School classes in the fall, please read through the following information and fill out the application. Any questions please contact Mrs. Jacobs (ljacobs@socsd.org) .  Applications are being accepted now. Registration begins May 4. First come first serve.
  • Attendance/ InquiriesPlease use our attendance email address,tzhsattendance@socsd.org, when contacting the school for attendance related matters, or call Ms. Kropp (845) 680-1652.  Reminder: when a student is out sick, you should be emailing the attendance office otherwise it is an unexcused absence.  Doctors notes should be submitted.

  • Working Papers –    Download the Application for Employment Certificate – AT-17 (working papers application) https://www.p12.nysed.gov/sss/documents/AT17-FillableMay21.pdf. Hard Copy in Main Office. 
    • Step 1: Complete the Application for Employment Certificate. 
    • Step 2: A parent or guardian must sign Part I of the application. Working papers cannot be issued without this signature.
    • Step 3: A physician must sign the Physical Fitness Certification form OR you must have a physical, not more than a year old.  
    • Step 4: Proof of identity if you are not a student of TZHS – a COPY of Driver’s License, Passport, OR Birth Certificate.
    • Step 5: Mail your completed application and a copy of one form of identification  (birth certificate, passport, driver’s license or permit) to:   Tappan Zee H.S. Att: Working Papers, 15 Dutch Hill Rd., Orangeburg, NY 10962.  Or bring in to Main office.  Paperwork can also be emailed to mshanley@socsd.org
