Day 5

 

  • Peer Leadership – Juniors if you are interested in being a part of the Peer Leadership Club for next year, please complete an application on the TZHS Google Classroom.  If you have any questions please see Mrs. Moore in room 307.
  • TZHS Library:  All books are due June 1, 2023. If you are a senior, you MUST return all borrowed devices and books prior to receiving your cap and gown.  TZHS Sustainable Closet is Open every day! We are always looking for new items…Bring items you no longer need or wear. We will be at the Wellness Fair on Friday, May 26
  • Spamalot T-shirts  – tshirts are here!!! Please bring your $20 payment in cash or check (payable to Tappan Zee High School). If you picked up your t-shirt but still owe payment, please drop off $20 to main office in Ms. Herskowitz’s mailbox with your name on the envelop. T-shirts will be available for pick up in Ms. Herskowitz’s office room 404. 
  • Cooking Club – Cooking club Wednesday, May 17 room 305
  • TZ Palooza – there is a mandatory rehearsal in the band room next week on Wednesday, May 17 from 3:05-4:30.  If you do not attend or touch base with Ms. Quinn, you will not be performing.
  • French Club – the club will meet Wednesday, May 17 at 3:05 in room C3.  All are welcome.
  • Tapress – There will be a Tapress meeting after school on Thursday, May 18 in room 409.  Articles for the final issue will be assigned.  See Mr. Stanford or one of the editors if you have any questions.
  • National Honor Society – meets on Thursday, May 18 in the library.  All members are expected to attend
  • Attention Seniors: To be eligible for the local scholarships chosen by the TZHS Scholarship Committee, seniors must have a General Scholarship Application on file.  The application is due by Friday May 19, 2023 by 3PM.  You can pick up a hard copy of the application in the Counseling Office.
  • CLUE – Attention TZ! A heinous crime has been committed – our beloved mascot, Zee, has been “zee-napped” and only YOU can solve the mystery.  Your mission is to discover WHO the criminal is, WHERE Zee was taken, and With What he was rendered unconscious? TZ CLUE will take place all day Friday, May 19 during passing time and lunch periods. Sign-up to play in the Cafeteria during lunch periods all week. You can play solo or as a team of up to 4 players. Tickets are $5.00. Open to all. Please help us solve the crime!
  • Acoustic Underground –  Acoustic Underground takes place in the band room (951) on Friday, May 19.  The show starts at 7pm.  $5 per person, SHS member $3, performers don’t pay. 
  • Tri-M Music Honor Society Members:  Our induction ceremony will be held on Monday, May 22 at 6 PM in the auditorium.  Students who received invitations are invited to attend with their families. Please be reminded that there is a mandatory rehearsal in the auditorium for new and returning members at 5:30 PM prior to the ceremony.
  • LEO Club:  The next LEO Club meeting will be Monday, May 22 in the library. We are voting for 2023-2023 officers. Please try to attend and make your vote count!  The LEO Club is partnering with the Blauvelt Lions in the first Annual “Journey for Sight 5K Rund and Walk”. This race is in support of the following charities: Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Visions Center on Blindness (VCB) and Alliance Vision Institute (AVI).  Please sign up and support this fabulous cause!

  • Computer Science Club – there will be a meeting on May 24 after school in Room 308.
  • Spanish Club Officers – there will be a meeting, Thursday, May 25 in room C7 after school.
  • REMINDER – Friday, May 26 – Half day for Students – Periods 5 – 9 on Day 6 of the cycle.
  • French Club –  we will meet Wednesday, May 31 at 3:05 in room C3.  New Officer elections for the 2023-2024 school year will take place.  If you are interested in running and currently take French, please make sure to attend this meeting.  You must be taking French for the 2023-2024 school year in order to run.
  • Spanish Club  – meeting Thursday, June 1 at 3:05 pm in room C-7
  • SHS Officers  – meeting Tuesday, June 6 at 3:05 pm in room C-6
  • French Honor Society – there will be a meeting Wednesday, June 7 at 3:05.  All members and officers must attend to conduct new officer elections for the 2023-2024 school year.

  • Yearbook Ordering: Yearbooks can be ordered at this link: https://www.yearbookordercenter.com/ code 4308.  April 1st, 2023-June yearbooks are $120. 
  • VHS – Interested in Screenwriting? Biotechnology? Pre-veterinary Medicine? Perhaps Mythology or Number Theory?  Well then Virtual High School is for you! There are many exciting courses being offered on-line for the upcoming Fall Semester.  If you’re interested in taking Virtual High School classes in the fall, please read through the following information and fill out the application. Any questions please contact Mrs. Jacobs (ljacobs@socsd.org) .  Applications are being accepted now. Registration begins May 4. First come first serve.
  • Attendance/ InquiriesPlease use our attendance email address,tzhsattendance@socsd.org, when contacting the school for attendance related matters, or call Ms. Kropp (845) 680-1652.  Reminder: when a student is out sick, you should be emailing the attendance office otherwise it is an unexcused absence.  Doctors notes should be submitted.

  • Working Papers –    Download the Application for Employment Certificate – AT-17 (working papers application) https://www.p12.nysed.gov/sss/documents/AT17-FillableMay21.pdf. Hard Copy in Main Office. 
    • Step 1: Complete the Application for Employment Certificate. 
    • Step 2: A parent or guardian must sign Part I of the application. Working papers cannot be issued without this signature.
    • Step 3: A physician must sign the Physical Fitness Certification form OR you must have a physical, not more than a year old.  
    • Step 4: Proof of identity if you are not a student of TZHS – a COPY of Driver’s License, Passport, OR Birth Certificate.
    • Step 5: Mail your completed application and a copy of one form of identification  (birth certificate, passport, driver’s license or permit) to:   Tappan Zee H.S. Att: Working Papers, 15 Dutch Hill Rd., Orangeburg, NY 10962.  Or bring in to Main office.  Paperwork can also be emailed to mshanley@socsd.org
