Students are responsible for honoring deadlines established by each scholarship. If supplemental materials are required to complete a scholarship application (i.e. transcripts, letters of recommendation), the form for supplemental materials must be filled out and handed to Mrs. Kelly or Mrs. Reynolds well before the scholarship deadline to allow for processing. An addressed envelope (including postage) must be provided by the student. Click here for the supplemental materials form or see the Counseling Department.
*NEW* New York State Excelsior Scholarships
As seniors and their families are making final decisions regarding which college to attend in the fall, we want to be sure that everyone is aware of the recently established Excelsior Scholarship. Available information indicates that this scholarship provides free tuition for all SUNY and CUNY schools for New York State residents beginning this fall. This includes Rockland Community College as well as other community colleges in New York State.
The scholarship for the 2017-18 school year will be available to those with an adjusted gross income up to $100,000 as filed on their 2015 federal tax returns. The income limit will be raised to $110,000 and $125,000 in each of the following two years. Students who receive the scholarship are obliged to live and, if employed, work in New York State for the number of years equal to the number of years the award was received. Students who do not fulfill this obligation will have their scholarships converted to loans. Full details and answers to frequently asked questions are available on the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation web site.
