Tappan Zee High School senior Hannah Ahn has been selected as a 2020 National Merit Scholarship Finalist!

“This is outstanding recognition,” said Principal Rudy Arietta. “Hannah is a great student who has added a lot to our school and taken advantage of every opportunity that’s been offered to her.”

Of the 1.6 million juniors who entered the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, the 15,000 who score highest in their state are named Semifinalists at the start of the senior year. To be considered for Finalist status, Semifinalists must submit an application demonstration leadership and outstanding academic performance and be recommended by a school official. Approximately 50 percent of Finalists are ultimately awarded a National Merit Scholarship.

Hannah was named a 2020 Semifinalist in the fall. Eight additional seniors earned Letters of Commendation for scoring in the top three percent of 2018 PSAT/NMSQT test takers.
