Tappan Zee High School

Students in Susan Maher’s and Michelle Murray’s health classes at Tappan Zee High School have been researching the health effects of vaping to develop campaign posters that challenge the fantasy portrayed by advertisers. “We’re looking at the science behind the headlines,” explains Maher, who is working to bring a pulmonologist in to speak with students this year. As of September 19, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had received 530 cases of lung damage associated with vaping from 38 states and confirmed seven deaths.
