ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR SOMS STUDENTS
SOMS Picture Retake day is tomorrow! If you took pictures on picture day and were unhappy with them, please bring your original package back with you tomorrow for retakes.
SOMS is looking for a talented student to design the cover of next year’s Agenda Book! Submissions are due to the main office by December 18th. Please see the SOMS Announcements page for additional information.
Attention all students: SADD club is sponsoring a day called Kindness Matters on December 18th. That day, SADD club will be handing out red bracelets during homeroom that say KINDNESS MATTERS on them. Also, please wear red to support us and show that Kindness Matters.
The Italian Club is sponsoring a toiletry drive to collect toiletries for the homeless and needy. Donations will be collected during homeroom. Each item is worth points and the homeroom that gets the most points will win a party. There are posters around the building and outside Mrs. Avantifiori’s room that indicate the point value of each item. Toiletry Drive
The next SOMS PTA meeting date has been changed. The new date is Monday, December 14th, 7:30 pm in the SOMS library. This replaces the December 21st meeting. The agenda includes a conversation with parents of incoming 5th graders.
Any student interested in participating in the Lion’s Club International Peace Poster Contest, please see Ms. Dougherty in room 187.
If any student is interested in participating in the 2015 Google for Doodle Contest, please stop by room #187 for details.
Science Olympiad meets on Tuesdays with Mrs. Nybro in room 186 and Thursdays with Mrs. Biggs in room 151.
Boys basketball tryouts will start next week from 3:00 until 4:15. 8th graders will report today and Wednesday while 7th graders will report tomorrow and Thursday.
Girls basketball will be meeting in the cafeteria at 4:00pm.
Attention all 7th graders: don’t forget to bring a bagged lunch, no glass bottles, or money to buy lunch for the trip on Wednesday to the Westchester Knicks School Day.
There will be an Italian club meeting Wednesday from 3:00 – 4:00. We will be planning our holiday party and our trip to the Thorpe senior center.
Student Council will be meeting after school on Wednesday in room 228.
Strategic Gaming Club will be meeting after school on Wednesday in room 230.
There will a mandatory meeting Wednesday for the NJHS Executive members. The meeting will be in Ms. Condon’s Room (Rm 237) after school. If you are unable to attend please let Ms. Condon or Mrs. Fagan know prior to the meeting.
Digital Media Club will be meeting after school Wednesday in room 180.
Sojourn will be meeting after school on Thursday in room 230.
The next meeting of the Spanish club will be Thursday after school in room 232. We will be taking our yearbook photo at this meeting.
Go Green/ Scrapbooking Club will meet Thursday after school in room 323. Please remember to bring your pictures and supplies. New members are always welcome. Stop by room 323 to pick up a permission slip.
Robotics Club will be meeting after school Wednesday, November 9th in room 180.
