ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR SOMS STUDENTS
SAVE THE DATE! The 2nd Annual SOMS Stem Challenge is scheduled for Saturday, November 14th. Registration and more information are now available on the SOMS website.
Attention 8th Graders – The Sterling Mineral Mine trip permission slips are now past due. Please bring in a check for $32 made out to SOMS ASAP.
Attention SADD Club members going on the STAC field trip Nov. 6th you must turn in your permission slip immediately.
ATTENTION ALL PARENTS / STUDENTS – A few reminders for the Halloween Costume Contest during lunch periods tomorrow. No props such as plastic swords, knives, pitchforks, etc. No masks, no sprays or paint of any kind in school. This includes hair and/or face paint. The costume must also adhere to the school dress code. Please use good taste in creating/choosing your costume so that it will not offend anyone.
The theme for this year’s Reflections in Art Program is Let Your Imagination Fly. Submissions can be Photography, Dance/Choreography, Musical Composition, Film Production, Literature and/or Visual Arts. See the SOMS website for more information and for the registration form. Registration is due by tomorrow.
Attention 6th and 7th Grades: Explore cycle E1 ends tomorrow. The new cycle E2 starts next Monday. 6th Grade class lists are hanging outside Mr. Calone, Mr. Freeley and Mr. Spiegelman’s rooms. 7th Grade class lists are hanging up outside the library.
Attention all students beginning Music Explore 7 with Mr. Yassky next week….ear buds are required every day.
The Book Fair will be all week in the SOMS Library.
Math Club will be meeting after school today in room 324.
French club is meeting today after-school. Club members, come and celebrate a French Halloween.
The creative writing club will be held after school today in room 331.
The Spanish club and the Art club will be meeting after school on Tuesday in the cafeteria. Spanish club please note the change in day for this meeting.
The next GSA club meeting will be after school on Tuesday in room 329. Please see Mrs. Shaw if you have any questions. New members are always welcome.
There will a mandatory meeting on Wednesdayfor the NJHS Executive members. The meeting will be in room 237 after school. If you are unable to attend please let Ms. Condon or Mrs. Fagan know prior to the meeting.
Go Green Scrapbooking Club is cancelled this week. It has been rescheduled to next Thursday, Nov 5th in room 323.
Elections for Student Council delegates will be held on Nov. 10th. A completed petition form is required to run. Petition forms are from Mr. Anderson in room 228. Petitions are due back to Mr. Anderson by Nov. 6th.
The next SADD club meeting will be after school on Tuesday, November 10th in room 329. Please see Mrs. Shaw if you have any questions. New members are always welcome.
The Actors’ Information Meeting for Once Upon a Mattress will be held in the SOMS Auditorium on November 24th from 4:00 – 5:00. You may not stay after school to wait for the meeting. You may attend an office hour, but must be with an adult until 4 pm. We will discuss the show, the audition process, and our expectations for rehearsals and behavior. Please make every effort to attend this meeting if you are planning on auditioning. **This meeting is NOT for those interested in joining a crew.
