SOMS Announcements

Cycle Day 1

Attention all students: If the temperature is between 21 and 45 degrees you MUST have a minimum of either a sweatshirt or fleece jacket to go outside for recess.  If the temperature drops below 21 degrees, there will be no outdoor recess.  Please remember to bring your jacket to recess if you want to go outside

The 6th grade ELA Institute will be held 3/7 and 3/9

Today is a Beach Day!  Show your school spirit and wear your best beachy outfit! Outfits must be appropriate- no bathing suits.  Suggestions are Hawaiian shirts, flipflops, shorts, beach hats, sundress, sunglasses or a shirt of your favorite beach!

Reminder to all 7th grade students… applications for DDP and Studio Art are due Today and should be submitted to either Mrs. Beckmann, Mr. Chugranis, Ms. Meyers or Mrs. Diepierno. If you have any questions or need assistance with your application, please speak to any of those teachers.

The February NJHS meeting for all current members will take place next Tuesday (March 7th) after school. Members of the TZ National Honor Society will be joining us.

The next principal’s committee meeting will be Wednesday, March 8th after-school in Dr. Corey’s office.  Any student is welcome to attend. This is an opportunity to meet with Dr. Rodriguez and Dr. Corey to discuss SOMS, ask questions and share any thoughts or ideas.

The SOMS Students Against Destructive Decisions Club will meet next Wednesday (March 8th), afterschool in room 153. New members are always welcome. come join us and help keep our SOMS community healthy and safe!

The Robotics Club will be meeting on Tues. March 14th and Tues. March 21st. Both groups can come to both sessions. Please see Mr. G. if you have any questions.

The Yearbook Club will meet on Wednesday (March 15th), afterschool in room 153.

Sports

Middle School Athletics registration for 7th & 8th graders is now open on the Athletics Website. Sign up today! The spring season for middle school sports begins on Monday, March 27th!

The following sports are available at the middle school level:

Boys & Girls Track & Field, Softball, Girls Lacrosse, Baseball, Boys Lacrosse & Boys Tennis

If there is any boy or girl in the 7th or 8th grade that has experience playing golf and would like to be considered for the HS team, please see Mr. Drivas so he can get you into contact with the HS coaches.
