Cycle Day 3

We will be having a locker cleanout Today during homeroom. Homeroom teachers and all teachers on Hall Duty during homeroom, please encourage the students to take home any extra clothing and clean out their lockers before the break.  Library books may be brought up to the library to be returned.

Today the cafeteria will be having a Pasta Bar: Rotini with meatballs, meat sauce, marinara, alfredo and parmesan cheese!

Submissions for next year’s Agenda book cover are due Today. Any 6th or 7th grade student that would like to submit a design around the theme of Friendship (Be Kind) should drop them off in the main office.

It’s Pajama Day and College Day at SOMS AND the Rockland Read In! The SOMS NJHS thanks our students and staff for their support of our Spirit Week efforts. We got a lot of great pictures for this years yearbook… make sure you go to Treering.com and purchase yours so you can see them!

Any NJHS member who did not drop off their Spirit Week donations is reminded to make sure they do so, giving them to Mrs. Beckmann or Mr. Goldstein today.

Yesterday a special assembly was held for all 7th grade students to explain the application process to join the SOMS NJHS. The process starts with students joining the NJHS Google Classroom page- the code (dt5ua3k) was also shared with all 7th grade teachers and shared in an email that was sent home to the families of all 7th grade students. The teacher recommendation part of the process has an early deadline of March 18th- students who are applying are encouraged to email teachers they will ask for a recommendation as early as possible. Students with any questions should speak to Mr. Goldstein or Mrs. Beckmann.

A reminder to all 7th grade students that if they want to apply to take Studio Art or DDP next year, their completed DDP or Studio Art tests are due back on March 2nd. Any student with questions should see one of the Art or Tech teachers.

The next meeting of the Spanish Club will take place Wednesday, March 1st after school in Doctora’s room. We will vote on where to go for our spring luncheon, take our Yearbook picture, and play a Hispanic game for Takis and Mexican candy. All club members should make every effort to attend!

A reminder that the 6th grade E3 cycle will end on February 28th and the new 6th grade E4 cycle will begin on March 1st.  The new 6th grade E4 Explore lists will be hanging up outside of Mr. Goldstein’s room 186 and Mr. Freeley’s room 171.

The 7th Grade E3 Study hall and Music Explore cycle will also end on February 28th and the new 7th grade E4 Study hall and Music Explore will also begin on March 1st.  The new 7th grade E4 lists will be hanging up outside the library.

March 3rd is a Beach Day!  Show your school spirit and wear your best beachy outfit! Outfits must be appropriate- no bathing suits.  Suggestions are Hawaiian shirts, flipflops, shorts, beach hats, sundress, sunglasses or a shirt of your favorite beach!
