General supplies (any brand):

  • One 1-inch binder (for homework organizer and general handouts)
  • Pen/pencil case (soft) with holes to keep in binder
  • A supply of pens (blue or black, plus one other color for corrections) and sharpened pencils (No. 2)
  • Hand-held pencil sharpener
  • Two highlighters (different colors)
  • Colored pencils and washable markers (8-12 pack each)
  • Scissors
  • Metric ruler
  • Several glue sticks
  • Ear-bud headphones
  • Index cards – size 3” x 5” (two packs)
  • Loose-leaf wide-ruled paper 
  • Reinforcement stickers for hole-punched pages (loose-leaf paper)
  • Five marble composition notebooks (1 Science; 1 Social Studies; 2 Math; 1 ELA)

Science and Social Studies:

  • Two 1.5″ three-ring binders (one per subject)
  • Two 1-subject spiral notebooks with a folder (one per subject)
  • Two packs of tab dividers (one per subject)

Math:

  • Two folders with pockets
  • Scientific calculator – Recommendation: Texas Instruments Model TI30X IIS (please label with student’s name)
  • One pack of dry erase markers (low odor)

ELA:

  • One 1-subject spiral notebook with a folder in it
  • One pack 3” x 3” sticky notepads

Suggestions:

  • An inexpensive 3-hole punch to be left at home
  • Work out a filing system to keep important papers at home – Recommendation: a large accordion file folder with 6-8 pockets
  • Hanging locker organizer which can be purchased from the SOMS PTA on Locker Day (Monday, August 26)
    **NOTE: Teachers may ask for additional supplies for their classes.

Grade 7

  • Scientific calculator – if purchasing new, please purchase a Texas Instruments TI-34 or TI30X IIS

  • Colored pencils (8-12 pack, any brand)
  • Multiple packages of Index cards – size 3” x 5” (used throughout the year for all subjects)
  • Five large glue sticks (any brand)
  • Scissors
  • Ear-bud headphones
  • One pack of dry erase markers (low odor)
  • One pack of 3-ring loose-leaf paper
  • Two folders with pockets for Explore classes

Foreign Language:

  • One large 3-subject spiral notebook (8 ½” x 11”)
  • One 2-pocket folder

Science 7:

  • Ms. Kramarczyk OR Mr. Sullivan: One 1-inch 3-ring binder
  • Ms. Martinez: One large 3-subject spiral notebook (8 ½” x 11”) with pockets

Math:

  • One 3-subject notebook for math journal
  • One 2” 3-ring binder (hard and sturdy)

ELA:

  • Two composition notebooks (sturdy)
  • Two 2-pocket folders
  • Five packages of 3” x 3” sticky notepads (any brand)

Social Studies:

  • One large spiral notebook (8 ½” x 11”) with pockets

  • Pencil case
  • Hand-held pencil sharpener
  • Block eraser
  • Scientific calculator – if buying new, please purchase a Texas Instruments TI-34 or TI30X IIS 
  • Highlighters (any color)
  • Colored pencils (8-12 pack, any brand)
  • Eight 2-pocket folders
  • Two 2″ 3-ring loose-leaf binders with tab dividers
  • An inexpensive binder-style 3-hole punch
  • Three packages of sticky notepads – 2” x 2” and 1” x 1” (any brand)
  • Metric/standard ruler – with holes for insertion in binder
  • Index cards – 3” x 5”, lined (500 cards)
  • Blunt scissors
  • Glue sticks
  • Ear-bud headphones
  • Graph paper – ¼” Grid

Algebra:

  • Two 3-subject notebooks (8 ½” x 11”) OR

Math 8:

  • One 3-subject notebook (8 ½” x 11”)

Earth Science Regents:

  • Barron’s Blue Book Current Edition and one 5-subject notebook (8 ½” x 11”) OR

General Science:

  • One 2″ 3-ring binder

ELA:

  • One composition notebook and one 1″ 3-ring binder with tab dividers

Italian:

  • One 1-subject notebook (8 ½” x 11”)

French OR Spanish:

  • One 3-subject notebook (8 ½” x 11”) and one folder

Suggestions:

  • Work out a system for keeping important papers organized at home; a large accordion file folder might work best (please talk this over with your child).
