General supplies for ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies

  • Five marble composition notebooks
  • Two 2.0-inch three ring binders with pockets (different colors)
  • One 1-inch three ring soft binder
  • Loose-leaf wide-ruled paper for binders
  • Tab dividers for binders
  • Reinforcement stickers for hole-punched pages (loose-leaf paper)
  • Seven 2-pocket folders with holes for binders
  • A supply of pens (blue or black, plus one other color for corrections) and sharpened pencils (No. 2)
  • Hand-held pencil sharpener
  • Scientific calculator – Recommendation: Texas Instruments Model TI30X IIS (used in grades 6, 7 and 8) – with the student’s name on it
  • Highlighters – 2 to 3 different colors
  • Packages of 3” x 3” sticky notepads (any brand)
  • Colored pencils and washable markers (8 to 12 pack each – any brand)
  • Dry erase markers (low odor)
  • Several glue sticks, any brand
  • Scissors
  • Pen / Pencil Case (soft) with holes to keep in a binder
  • Ear-bud headphones
  • Index cards – size 3” x 5” (two packs)

Suggestions:

  • An inexpensive 3-hole punch to be left at home
  • Metric/standard ruler to be left at home
  • Work out a filing system to keep important papers at home – Recommendation: a large accordion file folder with 6–8 pockets
  • Hanging locker organizer which can be purchased from the SOMS PTA on Locker Day (Monday, August 27)

  • Multiple packages Index Cards – size 3” x 5” (used throughout the school year for all subjects)

Suggestions:
Work out a system for keeping important papers organized at home; a large accordion file folder might work best (please talk this over with your child).
