South Orangetown Middle School

The South Orangetown Middle School National Junior Honor Society–in collaboration with art, technology and sixth-grade Investigations classes and Cooking, French and Italian clubs, raised $2,176 for Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley at its 4th Annual Souper Bowl and 5th Annual Students vs. Staff Volleyball Game!

In addition to homemade soup and the friendly athletic competition, student-made ceramics, wooden spoons and personalized, wood Valentine’s Day “cards” were available for donation.

NJHS Co-Presidents Jamie P. and Shayan H. were pleased by the strong turnout. “This event brings everyone through food and sports and teaches us to work together to achieve a goal,” said Shayan.

“Our events are not only about raising money for an important cause,” added Jamie. “We come together as a school to laugh and have fun. It’s an opportunity to meet and make friends with people that you might not already know.”

Thanks to all the students, teachers, families and community members who supported this event!
