Last night, 13 South Orangetown middle and high school students were honored at the Annual Black Achievement Awards Ceremony held at the Rockland Community College Cultural Arts Center. The RCC Black Achievement Awards seek to recognize the academic and personal accomplishments of Rockland County students from the Black/African Diaspora.

South Orangetown Middle School (above)
Grade 6: Michael Appiah, Denise Davin, Pilar Fernandez, Nina Gill, Xavier Leveille and Ezra Olds-Campanile
Grade 8: David Alexandre and Hawken Durso
Tappan Zee High School (above)
Grade 10: Hillary Abankwa, Rachel Alexandre and Gabriella Picott
Grade 12: Hannah Alexandre and Jude Paulemon
Black Achievement Award Certificates of Recognition are presented to students in Grades 6, 8, 10 and 12 who have achieved an academic average of 90% or greater, plus outstanding participation and accomplishments in at least two of the following categories: community service, artistic expression, athletics, leadership, and personal triumph and success. High school students must also meet National Honor Society eligibility criteria.
