The South Orangetown Middle School Italian Club and classes joined the fight against cancer by by participating in the June 9 Relay for Life Rockland in Pearl River. The club made and sold pizzelle and participated in other activities to raise more than $400 for the American Cancer Society.

“We were asked to participate in the Relay for Life because of the club’s participation in many community events,” explains Advisor and Italian Teacher Roberta Avantifiori. “Club members embraced the idea and were eager to participate. One of our goals is to help students become global citizens, become aware of the world and different issues in the world, and take an active role in making a difference.”
