FAHRENHEIT 451: This book was expurgated at the Venado Middle School in Irvine, California (1992). Students received copies of the book with scores of words — mostly “hells” and damns” — blacked out… After receiving complaints from parents and being contacted by reporters, school officials said censored copies would no longer be used.

In 2014, a school board in Arizona voted to expurgate a high school biology textbook “because they discuss sexually transmitted diseases and contraception.”
