The next few weeks we will be reading and discussing folktales, fairytales and fables. This traditional genre of literature evolved from oral storytelling that started thousands of years ago. The problems that are presented in these stories are ones that children can relate to and may even have had to face at one time or another. Often in these stories, a problem occurs that forces the main character to perform certain tasks that they learn a lesson or moral from. There are often certain elements in these tales of evil, magic numbers (3 & &7) and supernatural elements.

There are many tales to be read,but we won’t have the time to share many of them, so we hope that you will take the time to read some at home and post about your reading.
